If you are already a welder and are looking to up your income and see the world, you should consider becoming a specialty welder. Basic welders begin at around $10 - $14 per hour, but specialty welders can make between $60,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on where they work. Education

Military Welders 

Military welders are essential to keeping the armed forces moving. If you become a military welder, you will possibly be working on tanks, jeeps, bridges, and all manner of transport elements. Navy welders will usually be sent to elite welding schools. Becoming a hull welder in the navy means you have reached the peak of your profession. 

Mobile Welders

If you become a mobile welder, you can stay close to your home base without being tied down to the shop. You will need to invest in the proper equipment so that you can go where you are needed. Your clients may well include farmers, trucking companies, and even shipyards. Because you will be offering your clients fast, emergency repairs, you will be able to charge them a premium rate. You also get to set your own hours, so the job gives you more freedom than many other professions.
